In order to restore historic regimental traditions the Canadian Army (CA) will begin fielding the Blue Beret for members of the RCA, Royal Canadian Electrical Mechanical Engineers (RCEME), Royal Canadian Corps of Signals (RCCS), and Canadian Intelligence Corps (C Int C).
The switch to the Blue Beret is scheduled for 15 May. For the NCR, 30th Field is organizing a small ceremony (voluntary attendance from all NCR Gunners): Date: 20 May 2019 Location: Parliament Hill, East of center block by the “Famous Five” statues Dress: DEU 1A For all NCR Gunners, each Level 1 organization will setup a group picture wearing the blue beret to share with the Home Station. Chief Warrant Officer Robert Keating, RMC’s Training Wing Chief Warrant Officer, passed away April 25 in hospital after experiencing medical difficulties shortly after arrival at his office. Our thoughts are with CWO Keating’s family and friends during this difficult time. During more than 30 years of service to Canada, CWO Keating touched the lives of many. The outpouring of sympathy and condolences have been nothing short of extraordinary and a great support to the family.

Background: In recognition of the importance of education to individuals and to the future of the nation, a number of post-secondary bursaries have been sponsored for the benefit of members of the Regimental Family with the objectives of encouraging student achievement and lowering barriers to post-secondary study. History: Captain George Gideon Blackburn CM MC (February 3, 1917 – November 15, 2006) was a decorated Canadian Gunner veteran of the Second World War; a playwright; and, an award winning author. Captain Blackburn worked as a newspaper reporter for the Ottawa Journal in Pembroke, Ontario prior to joining the Army as a member of 4th Field Regiment RCA. He was awarded the Military Cross for his actions as a Forward Observation Officer helping to save the Twente Canal bridgehead in Holland. Un dramaturge; et un auteur primé. Le capitaine Blackburn a travaillé comme journaliste pour le Ottawa Journal à Pembroke, en Ontario, avant de se joindre à l'armée en tant que membre du RCA du 4e Régiment de campagne. Il a reçu la Croix militaire pour ses actions en tant qu'officier observateur avancé qui avait aidé à sauver la tête de pont du canal de Twente en Hollande.
