Fall Meet and Greet/la rencontre-réception de l’automne 2019
Thank you to the Gunner Community who attended last Sunday’s Fall Meet and Greet. There were over 70 serving, retired and family/friends of Gunners who attended the event. These events are an excellent opportunity to meet your fellow Gunners and enjoy an afternoon out.
This year’s event was marked by a special occasion with the presentation of Jack de Hart’s medals by his family members. These medals were graciously donated to the RCA Museum for the medals to be displayed at the Army Officers’ Mess in Ottawa. Info on the medals and history to be posted.
Additional pictures will be posted in the next few days so keep checking back.
For those that missed this great event, check out our Social Calendar for our upcoming events.

Artillery Birthday Celebrations
24 May 2019
The 26th of May 2019 marks the 303rd Anniversary of the establishment of our Allied Regiment – the Royal Regiment of Artillery. Artillery Day is celebrated annually on the 26th of May. In 1952, the Colonel Commandant, Major-General H.O.N. Brownfield, sought and received permission to adopt the Royal Artillery birthdate (26 May 1716) as Artillery Day for The Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery.
The OGA and the Artillery community had the honour of having BGen J.J. Selbie OMM CD (Ret'd) and BGen L.P. McGarry as guests during the festivities.
Another great honour that needs to be recognized was having CWO Errol Patrick (Ret’d), a veteran of the Korean War, celebrating with our community. CWO Patrick (Ret’d) retired from the military with 35 years of service in 1985 as the CWO at The Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery School. Mr. Patrick was documented by Veterans Affairs Canada and his contribution to the Artillery and Canada can be found in the following link: https://www.veterans.gc.ca/eng/video-gallery/video/8906
