A message from our Colonel-Commandant,
It is with a heavy heart that I announce to The Royal Regiment that Major-General H.R. (Howie) Wheatley – a man known and deeply respected by so many of us personally or by admirable reputation – passed away shortly after midnight on Saturday 20 July at the end of a hard fought battle with stomach cancer and a stubborn gastric obstruction.  His family were at his side.  I know that the Regiment joins me in mourning the loss of this great Gunner officer and extending heartfelt condolences to his family. 

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life that will take place on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services (280 Beechwood Avenue,) at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Army Cadet League of Canada, the Royal Canadian Artillery Heritage Fund, or the Canadian Cancer Society.

Un message de notre Colonel-commandant,
C'est avec peine que j'annonce au Régiment royal le décès du Major-général H.R. (Howie) Wheatley - un officier populaire et profondément respecté de nous tous. Il s'est éteint peu après minuit le samedi 20 juillet des suites d'un cancer de l'estomac et d'une obstruction gastrique. Sa famille était à ses côtés. Je sais que le Régiment se joint à moi pour le deuil de cet officier remarquable et je tiens à passer mes condoléances les plus sincères à sa famille. 

Famille et amis sont cordialement invités aux funérailles du Mgén H.R. Wheatley qui auront lieu le 7 septembre 2019 au cimetière Beechwood (280 avenue Beechwood) à 13:30.  Au lieu de fleurs, un don peut être fait à la ligue des Cadets de l'armée du Canada, le fond du patrimoine de l'Artillerie royale du Canada ou la société canadienne du cancer.
