​The Ottawa Gunners were saddened to learn of the passing of former President, LCol (retd) Jerry Donahue. Jerry was a proud member of the Canadian Armed Forces in the Artillery for 37 years. A graduate of the Royal Military College in Kingston in 1954. He married Claudette (Pigeau) shortly after graduation and was immediately deployed to Korea for 6 months. During the first 17 years of marriage, Jerry was posted 19 times including 2 peacekeeping tours in Vietnam, for 1 year and 6 months respectively. Along with several Canadian postings spanning Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Ontario and Manitoba, Jerry and family also traveled to Texas, Germany, Kansas and Washington DC, before finishing his service in Ottawa. Jerry was a very active member of the Ottawa Gunners, serving as President for a number years. He was also a member of the Eastern Ontario Gunners Association. Jerry was Secretary of the 30th Field Artillery Regiment Senate for 14 years. “Once a Gunner, always a Gunner”.

For us in the Ottawa Gunner community, Jerry Donahue has been a faithful and energetic supporter of the Ottawa Gunners since their inception and has contributed incalculably. The entire community will miss, honour, and remember him.

Les Gunners d'Ottawa ont été attristés d'apprendre le décès de l'ancien président, le lcol (à la retraite) Jerry Donahue. Jerry a été un fier membre des Forces armées canadiennes dans l'artillerie pendant 37 ans. Diplômé du Collège militaire royal de Kingston en 1954. Il épousa Claudette (Pigeau) peu après avoir obtenu son diplôme et fut immédiatement déployé en Corée pendant 6 mois. Au cours des 17 premières années de mariage, Jerry a été affecté 19 fois dont 2 missions de maintien de la paix au Vietnam, pendant 1 an et 6 mois respectivement. En plus de plusieurs affectations canadiennes couvrant la Nouvelle-Écosse, le Nouveau-Brunswick, l'Ontario et le Manitoba, Jerry et sa famille se sont également rendus au Texas, en Allemagne, au Kansas et à Washington DC, avant de terminer son service à Ottawa. Jerry était un membre très actif des Ottawa Gunners, en tant que président pendant plusieurs années. Il était également membre de la Eastern Ontario Gunners Association. Jerry a été secrétaire du 30e Régiment d'artillerie de campagne au Sénat pendant 14 ans. «Une fois un Artilleur, toujours un Artilleur».

Pour nous, membres de la communauté des artilleurs d'Ottawa, Jerry Donahue a été un partisan fidèle et énergique des Gunners d'Ottawa depuis leur création et a contribué de manière incalculable. La communauté entière le manquera, l'honorera et se souviendra de lui.
